Recap - Owls Defeat Charlotte 28-7
The 49ers had no answer for Dean Connors on Saturday as the Owls rolled to a 28-7 win at Jerry Richardson Stadium.
Rice won and also put money in the pockets of their supporters by covering the +0.0-point spread as underdogs. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go UNDER the closing number of 45.0.
Dean Connors rushed for 184 yards, while Luke McCaffrey added 40 yards in the win. Luke McCaffrey and Landon Ransom-Goelz added 54 and 44 receiving yards respectively.
Hahsaun Wilson rushed for 47 yards for Charlotte, while Joachim Bangda added 40 yards. Trexler Ivey threw for 51 yards for the 49ers, while receivers Randy Fields Jr. and Joachim Bangda had 18 and 15 yards respectively.
Charlotte was outgained by Rice 380-158 yards in Saturday's match, while the important battle of first downs was won 16-11 by the Owls.
Charlotte lost the time of possession battle 33:41-26:19, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.
Next game, Rice takes its act home to face Florida Atlantic looking for another win. For Charlotte, they head on the road to face USF.
