Owls Fall 36-31 Against SMU - Game Recap
The Owls came up short against the Mustangs in Week 10 action on Saturday, falling 36-31 at Rice Stadium.
SMU did not, however, defeat the Owls against the spread, which closed at -13.0 at most sportsbooks. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go OVER the closing number of 58.5.
Preston Stone rushed for 81 yards, while LJ Johnson Jr. added 73 yards in the win. Jake Bailey and Roderick Daniels Jr. added 73 and 42 receiving yards respectively.
Dean Connors rushed for 77 yards for Rice, while Braylen Walker added 20 yards. JT Daniels threw for 81 yards for the Owls, while receivers Rawson MacNeill and Landon Ransom-Goelz had 68 and 45 yards respectively.
Rice lost the offensive yardage battle to SMU 484-290 yards in Saturday's game. SMU had more first downs as that total ended up 28-13.
The time of possession battle favored SMU as their offense was on the field for 31:31, longer than the 28:29 of their opponents.
SMU heads into a 11 battle against North Texas. Rice, meanwhile, will have their next action against UTSA.
