Charlotte Falls 34-16 to Mustangs - Recap
The 49ers had no answer for Jaylan Knighton on Saturday as the Mustangs rolled to a 34-16 win at Gerald J. Ford Stadium.
The Mustangs earned a straight-up victory but suffered an ATS defeat in failing to cover the -22.5-point spread. Over-Under bettors who played UNDER the total of 52.5 were rewarded with a winning wager.
Jaylan Knighton rushed for 150 yards, while Velton Gardner added 62 yards in the win. Jake Bailey and RJ Maryland added 34 and 33 receiving yards respectively.
Terron Kellman rushed for 69 yards for Charlotte, while Jalon Jones added 55 yards. Trexler Ivey threw for 107 yards for the 49ers, while receivers Jack Hestera and Colin Weber had 81 and 29 yards respectively.
Charlotte lost the offensive yardage battle to SMU 363-331 yards in Saturday's game. Charlotte had more first downs as that total ended up 24-20.
SMU lost the time of possession battle 35:25-24:35, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.
SMU looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against East Carolina. Charlotte will aim to get back on the winning track vs. Navy.
