Rice Owls vs Houston Cougars Recap - Cougars Win 34-27
Ta'Zhawn Henry scampered through the Rice defense for 112 yards as Houston handed the Owls a 34-27 defeat on Saturday at TDECU Stadium.
Houston did not, however, defeat the Owls against the spread, which closed at -17.5 at most sportsbooks. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go OVER the closing number of 52.0.
Ta'Zhawn Henry rushed for 112 yards, while Stacy Sneed added 37 yards in the win. Nathaniel Dell and Matthew Golden added 134 and 49 receiving yards respectively.
Kobie Campbell rushed for 34 yards for Rice, while Cameron Montgomery added 20 yards. TJ McMahon threw for 334 yards for the Owls, while receivers Bradley Rozner and Luke McCaffrey had 123 and 121 yards respectively.
Rice was outgained by Houston 427-424 yards in Saturday's match, while the important battle of first downs was won 22-19 by the Owls.
Houston led the time of possession tally, as the game finished as a 30:05-29:55 split in that important category.
Houston heads into a Week 5 battle against Tulane. Rice, meanwhile, will have their next action against UAB.
