Hokies Fall 45-29 Against Pittsburgh - Game Recap

The Hokies had no answer for Israel Abanikanda on Saturday as the Panthers rolled to a 45-29 win at Acrisure Stadium.

Pittsburgh won and also put money in the pockets of their supporters by covering the -14.5-point spread as favorites. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go OVER the closing number of 42.0.

Israel Abanikanda rushed for 320 yards, while Daniel Carter added 11 yards in the win. Jaden Bradley and Gavin Bartholomew added 66 and 41 receiving yards respectively.

Malachi Thomas rushed for 84 yards for Virginia Tech, while Keshawn King added 26 yards. Grant Wells threw for 277 yards for the Hokies, while receivers Kaleb Smith and Dae'Quan Wright had 152 and 47 yards respectively.

Virginia Tech was outgained by Pittsburgh 496-403 yards in Saturday's match, while the important battle of first downs was won 25-21 by the Panthers.

Virginia Tech lost the time of possession battle 32:31-27:29, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.

Next game, Pittsburgh takes its act on the road to face Louisville looking for another win. For Virginia Tech, they head home to face Miami-FL.
