Hokies Fall 28-7 Against Pittsburgh - Game Recap

Israel Abanikanda tore up the turf for 140 rushing yards on Saturday to lead the Panthers to a 28-7 win over the Hokies at Lane Stadium/Worsham Field.

The Panthers were a -6.0-point favorite in the win, and managed to turn a profit for their supporters. The combined score dipped UNDER the total, which closed at 56.0.

Israel Abanikanda rushed for 140 yards, while Kenny Pickett added 38 yards in the win. Jared Wayne and Jordan Addison added 94 and 62 receiving yards respectively.

Malachi Thomas rushed for 33 yards for Virginia Tech, while Braxton Burmeister added 19 yards. Braxton Burmeister threw for 134 yards for the Hokies, while receivers Tre Turner and Da'Wain Lofton had 73 and 29 yards respectively.

Virginia Tech lost the offensive yardage battle to Pittsburgh 411-224 yards in Saturday's game. Pittsburgh had more first downs as that total ended up 22-13.

Virginia Tech lost the time of possession battle 38:16-21:29, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.

Pittsburgh looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against Clemson. Virginia Tech will aim to get back on the winning track vs. Syracuse.
