Hampton got 18 points from A.J. Astroth en route to a 70-69 victory over Chowan on Thursday at Hampton Convocation Center.
Hampton got 11 points from Jermaine Marrow and another 10 points from Charles Wilson-Fisher. Lawrence Cooks contributed 2 assists, while A.J. Astroth cleaned the glass with 9 rebounds.
Chowan got a 15-point performance from Kevin Kuteyi, who was supported by 14 points from Marco Haskins. Kevin Kuteyi had 4 assists in a losing cause for Chowan, while Jeremy Smith grabbed 7 rebounds.
Hampton was winning at the break before taking care of business in the second half.
