UAB Falls 94-71 to Rice - Recap
The battle between Rice and UAB didn’t turn out to be much of a battle at all as UAB was handed a 94-71 defeat on Wednesday at Bartow Arena.
Bettors who backed Rice were also rewarded, as they covered the closing number as an underdog of +11.0 at sportsbooks.
Rice got 19 points from Mekhi Mason and another 18 points from Andrew Akuchie. Mekhi Mason contributed 6 assists, while Keanu Dawes cleaned the glass with 7 rebounds.
UAB got 16 points from Yaxel Lendeborg in a losing cause and another 13 points from Efrem Johnson. Eric Gaines contributed 5 assists for them, while Yaxel Lendeborg had 11 rebounds.
Rice led at halftime, 49-25.
UAB won the battle of the boards, outrebounding their counterparts 31-30.
Rice heads into a battle against East Carolina. UAB, meanwhile, will have their next action against Tulane.
