The battle between Lipscomb and Florida Gulf Coast didn’t turn out to be much of a battle at all as Florida Gulf Coast was handed a 98-72 defeat on Thursday at Alico Arena.
Derrin Boyd had 38 points for Lipscomb and AJ McGinnis chipped in with 18 points. Joe Anderson had 9 assists for them, while Dylan Faulkner was the team's top rebounder, grabbing 5 boards.
Florida Gulf Coast got 19 points from Isaiah Thompson in a losing cause and another 14 points from Keeshawn Kellman. Cyrus Largie contributed 6 assists for them, while Franco Miller Jr. had 8 rebounds.
Lipscomb was winning at the break before taking care of business in the second half.
Florida Gulf Coast won the battle of the boards, outrebounding their counterparts 23-21.
