South Dakota State grabbed a 75-66 win over UMKC on Thursday, behind a 19-point effort from Luke Appel at Frost Arena.

South Dakota State earned a straight-up victory but suffered an ATS defeat in failing to cover the -10.5-point spread.

Matt Mims had 15 points for South Dakota State and William Kyle III chipped in with 13 points. Zeke Mayo had 4 assists for them, while Charlie Easley was the team's top rebounder, grabbing 12 boards.

UMKC got 17 points from Jamar Brown in a losing cause and another 11 points from Cameron Faas. Babacar Diallo contributed 6 assists for them, while Jeff Ngandu had 6 rebounds.

South Dakota State was winning at the break before taking care of business in the second half.

South Dakota State had a 38-32 advantage in the rebounding department as they won the battle in the paint.
