Quincy Olivari scored 27 points for Rice on Wednesday, leading them to a 70-62 victory over Prairie View A&M at Tudor Fieldhouse.
Rice got 10 points from Travis Evee and another 9 points from Cameron Sheffield. Max Fiedler contributed 8 assists, while Cameron Sheffield cleaned the glass with 15 rebounds.
Prairie View A&M got 19 points from Tekorian Smith in a losing cause and another 13 points from Braden Bell. Jeremiah Gambrell contributed 3 assists for them, while Kortrijk Miles had 8 rebounds.
Rice was losing at the break before taking care of business in the second half.
Rice had a 37-22 advantage in the rebounding department as they won the battle in the paint.
Rice heads into a battle against Texas State. Prairie View A&M, meanwhile, will have their next action against Northwestern.
