Merrimack got 23 points from Mykel Derring as they ran past Sacred Heart 80-79 on Saturday at Hammel Court.
Merrimack got 16 points from Mikey Watkins and another 15 points from Ziggy Reid. Mikey Watkins contributed 9 assists, while Jordan Minor cleaned the glass with 12 rebounds.
Sacred Heart got 26 points from Tanner Thomas in a losing cause and another 18 points from Nico Galette. Mike Sixsmith contributed 4 assists for them, while Bryce Johnson had 11 rebounds.
Merrimack was winning at the break before taking care of business in the second half.
Sacred Heart had a 32-18 advantage in the rebounding department as they won the battle in the paint.
