Recap - Winthrop Defeats Gardner-Webb 81-70
Winthrop grabbed a 81-70 win over Gardner-Webb on Wednesday, behind a 16-point effort from Cory Hightower at Paul Porter Arena.
Winthrop got 15 points from Patrick Good and another 13 points from Micheal Anumba. Drew Buggs contributed 6 assists, while Patrick Good cleaned the glass with 7 rebounds.
Gardner-Webb got a 21-point performance from Lance Terry, who was supported by 15 points from D'Maurian Williams. D'Maurian Williams had 5 assists in a losing cause for Gardner-Webb, while Ludovic Dufeal grabbed 6 rebounds.
Winthrop led at halftime, 37-33.
Winthrop won the battle of the boards, outrebounding their counterparts 34-25.
Winthrop looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against the UNC Asheville. Gardner-Webb will aim to get back on the winning track at Presbyterian.
