Will Richard scored 16 points leading Belmont to a 48-47 victory over Morehead State at Curb Event Center on Thursday.
Belmont won the battle on the scoreboard, but not at the payout window as they failed to cover the -9.0-point spread.
Belmont got 14 points from Nick Muszynski and another 6 points from Grayson Murphy. Grayson Murphy contributed 3 assists, while Will Richard cleaned the glass with 8 rebounds.
Morehead State got 15 points from Johni Broome in a losing cause and another 12 points from Tray Hollowell. Ta'lon Cooper contributed 4 assists for them, while Johni Broome had 13 rebounds.
Belmont trailed at halftime, 29-23.
Morehead State had a 38-30 advantage in the rebounding department as they won the battle in the paint.
