Buddy Boeheim went off for 30 points and added 4 rebounds leading Syracuse to a 78-62 win over San Diego State on Friday at Hinkle Fieldhouse.
Syracuse won and also put money in the pockets of their supporters by covering the +3.0-point spread as underdogs.
Syracuse got 12 points from Joseph Girard III and another 11 points from Marek Dolezaj. Joseph Girard III contributed 7 assists, while Joseph Girard III cleaned the glass with 6 rebounds.
San Diego State got a 17-point performance from Jordan Schakel, who was supported by 17 points from Matt Mitchell. Trey Pulliam had 6 assists in a losing cause for San Diego State, while Matt Mitchell grabbed 8 rebounds.
Syracuse led at halftime, 32-19.
San Diego State won the battle of the boards, outrebounding their counterparts 30-28.
