Xavier Defeats Providence 64-58 - Recap
Xavier grabbed a 64-58 win over Providence on Saturday, behind a 14-point effort from Tyrique Jones at Cintas Center.
Xavier won and also put money in the pockets of their supporters by covering the -3.5-point spread as favorites.
Xavier got 13 points from Paul Scruggs and another 11 points from Zach Freemantle. Paul Scruggs contributed 5 assists, while Tyrique Jones cleaned the glass with 18 rebounds.
Providence got 16 points from Nate Watson in a losing cause and another 14 points from Alpha Diallo. Maliek White contributed 7 assists for them, while Nate Watson had 7 rebounds.
Xavier was losing at the break before taking care of business in the second half.
Xavier had a 32-30 advantage in the rebounding department as they won the battle in the paint.
Next game, Xavier takes its act on the road to face Butler looking for another win. For Providence, they head on the road to face St. John's.
