Appalachian State Falls 51-48 to Eagles - Recap

Kyle Vantrease was good for 385 yards through the air on Saturday as the Eagles got past the Mountaineers by a score of 51-48 at Allen E. Paulson Stadium.

Georgia Southern won and also put money in the pockets of their supporters by covering the +6.5-point spread as underdogs. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go OVER the closing number of 66.0.

Kyle Vantrease completed 34 of 51 pass attempts for 385 yards for the Eagles in the win.

Nate Noel rushed for 171 yards for Appalachian State, while Ahmani Marshall added 91 yards. Chase Brice threw for 253 yards for the Mountaineers, while receivers Christan Horn and Dalton Stroman had 55 and 53 yards respectively.

Appalachian State outgained Georgia Southern 629-487 yards in the game, while the battle of first downs was won 27-25 by the Eagles.

Georgia Southern lost the time of possession battle 32:33-27:27, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.
